A life in performing arts

Wendy is both the Artistic and Managing Director at the Crowley-Dynan Performing Arts and Speech Academy. Wendy is a highly qualified drama teacher, director, facilitator, vocal coach and performer with over 30 years of experience. It was little wonder that Wendy chose this path, as she grew up in the business due to her Mother owning a Performing Arts school in Cork.

Wendy has practised her expertise through working in Ireland, England and New Zealand, allowing her to develop a more broad and diverse set of skills. She has obtained significant qualifications and training since 1995 including a BA (Hons) in Theatre and Media Drama with Psychology, was classically trained at Drama Studio London, and also successfully obtained her Licentiate in Speech and Drama with Trinity Guildhall.

Wendy's love and passion for the performing arts is evident in all her work. Her dynamic skill set, including speech & drama, characterisation, confidence building, self-presentation, public speaking, improvisation, audition technique, workshop facilitation, Shakespearean text, dance and many more, ensures that her clients are getting the most out of their time. She is an extremely focussed and energetic instructor with a hunger for getting the very best out of her clients, both children and adults. As a professional actress, Wendy has most recently appeared as Helen Stewart in the successful TV show 'Obituary', as Emily in the film 'My Sailor My Love', and as the leading lady (Natasha) in the critically acclaimed A Shortcut to Happiness by Roger Hall. She enjoyed a great deal of touring in New Zealand with Everyday Theatre Company and in England with the Oxfordshire Touring Theatre company. One of Wendy's favourite roles was at the Pentameters Theatre in London where she played one of the principal roles (Mary) in New Morning by Declan Hughes.

Wendy has performed in theatres in London, Scotland, Cork's wonderful Granary Theatre and Cork's Arts Theatre as well as countless productions at the Cork Opera House for many years.
